My NY Mets sketchbook. I create an entry after each Mets game or commentary on the crazy stuff going on around the team.
Great sketch, as always!I'm a Phillies fan, but I really enjoyed your sketches documenting the Mets 2011 season -- I really wish someone so talented was doing the Phillies games -- I guess I'll have to settle for your rendition of Philly's own Joe Frazier.Let's hope that someone in the NL East can stop the Marlins this year -- if they add on Pujols, I think we'll be left to fight for the wild card.Looking forward to your great work in 2012.
Is he the only player on the team (and throughout much of baseball, for that matter) who plays with a smile on his face? He always looks as if he's having fun which is half the fun of watching him play. Too bad.Tuli
I wish I were dead.
The only real problem with the Mets is the ownership. They should be traded, not the players.
He wasn't a team player! Let him loose.
quote: He wasn't a team player!Where do people come up with hogwash like this? If you are going to use the "sour grapes" approach, at least try to use something factual in your "we're better off without our greatest homegrown positional player of all times" lies...
^ How about taking himself out to win a batting title when he knew that it could be his last game as a Met? How about not stealing bases because he didn't want to re-injure himself and lower his free agency value? How about not running every play out and getting benched by Jerry Manuel for doing so? I loved the guy, but he definitely wasn't the model of team player.
He was a very good player when he was healthy but that wasn't consistant. He was careless on the field and contributed to his re-injuringing himself. He wanted more than he deserved for the potential injury loss and the legnth of contract. The Mets have been burned before with long term contracts with injury proned players. I bet he doesn't make a full season in Florida either.
I hope Jose plays 159 games, hits and OPS above .900, steals 45+ bases, and KILLS the Mets every time the Marlins play them.THE WILPONS WILL RUE THIS DAY. DAMN THEM TO HELL.
Jeez... a lot of "anonymous" sniping back and forth that doesn't really matter. Reyes is gone. Done deal. But I'm surprised no one's mentioned Ruben Tejada. He had a pretty solid season and he's only 22. Maybe he won't be as big an impact player as Reyes, but considering all of Jose's hamstring problems, I think he'll do fine. And let's remember, Tejada made huge strides this year. And once again, he's only 22. Factor in a healthy Ike, Wright, Murphy and Johan, plus Dickey and the emerging Lucas Duda, Dillon Gee and Jon Niese and I believe there's a lot more upside for 2012 than people think. Plus, they're moving in the fences which will only help guys like Wright and Bay. Think those fences messed with their psyches much? And the one guy who really benefited from the old layout will now be pulling his hammy in Miami. Look on the bright side, Met fans. We're looking good and flying under the radar.
Boycott Citi Field until the Wilpons are force to relinquish control.DAMN THEM TO HELL!
